Audubon Outdoors

Audubon Outdoors was created to encourage people to become involved in outdoor and nature related activities. The primary objective is to encourage outdoor recreational activities such as nature-based travel and tourism, bird watching, hiking, fishing, golfing, gardening, kayaking, climbing, nature photography and anything else that gets  people and families outside and enjoying nature.  With a global trend towards increased urbanism also comes a reduced awareness of nature, and the diminished opportunity for children and adults to play freely in nature. It is the objective of Audubon Outdoors to reverse this trend and to promote the conservation and recreation opportunities that exist within our communities, and to serve as the official facilitator of the ISC-Audubon’s philanthropic cause to “Spreading the Seeds of Sustainability.” We accomplish this by converting monies collected through ISC-Audubon memberships, donations, and contributions into seeds, and/or seed grants to communities to establish fruit and vegetable gardens, bird and wildlife sanctuaries, and for the beautification of urban and suburban landscapes by creating flower and native plant gardens. We also establish demonstration and research projects for land owners who wish to demonstrate outdoor conservation techniques.

Bird watching kidAudubon Outdoors serves as the environmental sustainability advocate for ISC-Audubon especially those that relate to:

  • Nature-based travel and tourism
  • Environmental Education and Awareness
  • Conservation Action and Demonstration

In addition, Audubon Outdoors will:

  • Serve as the administrator of The Seeds of Sustainability Fund.
  • Promote the Spreading the Seeds of Sustainability efforts on specific regional levels, and in doing so serve as the official ISC-Audubon advocate to promote Eco-Tourism in those regions.
  • Coordinate all regional and local sustainability demonstration projects.
  • Produce written materials specific to Environmental Sustainability for ISC-Audubon publications which include; GLOBAL SustainAbility magazine, Broadcast Audubon, Audubon Outdoors Newsletter, create Audubon Outdoors Nature Fact Sheets, create Demonstration Project and Member Case Studies, and facilitate creation of all ISC-Audubon official Policy Documents.
  • Provide oversight for the Environmental Sustainability Committee which reports directly to The ISC Council.

ISC-Audubon is a coalition of non-profit organizations and initiatives that include The International Sustainability Council (ISC), Audubon Lifestyles, Audubon Outdoors, Planit Green, Broadcast Audubon, and the Audubon Network for Sustainability.

Funds generated through memberships and donations are used to provide fruit & vegetable seeds, wildflower seed mix, and wildlife feed & birdseed to urban and suburban communities around the world. These seeds are used by communities to establish fruit and vegetable gardens, bird and wildlife sanctuaries, and for the beautification of urban and suburban landscapes by creating flower and native plant gardens.
